Things to do in the North West

The North West is an inland province of South Africa. It boarders the neighbouring country of Botswana. The province is filled with natural landscapes of mountains and bushveld. Despite being small, the province has so much to offer. Here is a list of things to do in the North West.

Hartbeespoort

Hartbeespoort is a quaint town in the North West province. It is often the go to destination for weekend day trips for people travelling from Johannesburg. Popular destinations in Hartbeespoort include:

The Aerial Cableway – use the cableway to travel to the top and enjoy spectacular scenic views of the landscape. There is also a restaurant and seating areas once you get to the top.

Little Paris – which has a miniature version of the “Eiffel Tower”. It is a beautiful and popular site particularly with people wanting to take photos.

Sun City

Sun City is located in Rustenburg and is a definite must visit when in the area. Although it is widely known for having a great casino area as it is part of the Sun International group, there is so much more it has to offer.

Some of the popular activities at Sun City include:

Valley of Waves – experience the lagoon with real waves and there are also seven thrilling slides.

Maze of the Lost City – is one of the largest mazes in the southern hemisphere and offers a different experience to patrons.

Pilanesberg National Park

Pilanesberg National Park was founded to promote the conservation of the biodiversity in the area. It is a malaria-free park and is open year round. The reserve is in a volcanic crater and has the big five animals roaming free. There are numerous tracks to take for a self-guided drive to enable you to enjoy the park at your own pace. And if you are lucky, you may just spot one of the big five.
