Sun City

When one thinks of Sun City in the North West province, we often just picture the valley of waves and the casino area. However, the venue offers so much. Here is a guide on everything you can do at Sun City on your next journey.

How to Get There.

Sun City is located in the North West province next within the Pilanesberg area. The drive to the destination is straightforward using all major roadways. This journey should take you two hours and is approximately one hundred and fifty kilometres from Sandton, Johannesburg.

Sun City Activities

Valley of the Waves

This is one of the most popular activities to do at Sun City. Here you can enjoy the lagoon with real waves and is something that is enjoyed by one and all. There are also seven thrilling slides to try for different comfort levels. Or you can go down the seventy metre Temple of Courage.

Sun Vacation Pools

Here you can enjoy a dip in the sparkling pools and also enjoy the water slides for some added excitement.

The Maze of the Lost City

This maze is accessible via a eighty metre long suspension bridge. It is one of the largest permanent mazes in the southern hemisphere. After you complete the maze, you find The Maze Bar where you can enjoy craft beer tasting.

Sun Central

Sun Central is the main building and has an array of facilities available. You can catch the Sky Train from the front entrance which takes you to Sun Central.

Numerous retail outlets are available which include stores from Candylicious and J&M Biltong to Sunglass Boutique, Billabong and Havaianas. There are approximately fifteen in total.

Various restaurants are located at Sun Central these include, Wimpy, Casa Bella, Calistos, Nando’s, Milky Lane, The Raj, Simply Asia, Debonairs Pizza, Steers, Fishaways, Vida E Cafe, Spur and Rocomamas.

In addition, Sun Central has the Magic Company and ten pin bowling, The Crater, Sun Movies and Sorbet for all to enjoy.

Further, there are atms for the popular five banks in South Africa.

Sun City has a convention centre located on the upper level of Sun Central. It offers a variety of conferencing and banqueting venues for a large number of guests. They offer a selection of boardrooms, breakaway rooms and other venues for business professionals.

Mankwe Game Trackers

Mankwe Game Trackers offers hot air balloon safaris, guided game drives and archery and quad biking experiences. Bookings will need to be made at the Welcome Centre and Activity Hub.

Kamp Kwena

This is a place to drop off the kids for a day of adventure and fun. They offer educational programmes for kids between the ages of four and twelve. Kamp Kwena is run by qualified caretakers and they also offer creche and babysitting services.

Bike Park

This park is the ideal track for skateboards, bmx, mountain bikes, dirt jump bikes and in-line skates. There is also a dedicated track for kiddies.

Finders Keepers

This is a scratch parch and sand pit ideal for kids to play around and dig for precious stones.

Crocodile Village

This crocodile village homes a range of different sized crocodiles. And offers a fun and educational experience. They also do daily feeding sessions so you can get close to the crocodiles and watch them while they are being fed.

Rock Venture Mini Golf

There is a challenging mini golf course which is ideal for the entire family. The course also has a few water features.

Segaetsho Cultural Village

The Segaetsho Cultural Village is located at the Activity Hub where you can learn and experience the cultural heritage of the people through traditional dance, music, crafts and games.

Stimela Train

It’s a fun family train offering different views of the Cabanas Lake.

Tennis Courts and Golf Courses

Sun City has eleven tennis courts with five of them offering flood lights. There is also a tennis clubhouse and coaching services are available if anyone requires this. You will find a few golf courses at Sun City which include the Gary Player Country Club and The Lost City Golf Course.

Chimp & Zee

This is a fun rope adventure and park course which gives you views of the Valley of Waves. It is at tree-top level above the water park. The course obstacles are made up of speedy zip lines, balancing beams and rope bridges to make it challenging yet exciting.

Other eateries

There are additional eateries which include Plume, The Grill Room, Crystal Court, Tusk Bar and Lounge, The Palace Pool Deck and the Crocodile Lounge.

Accommodation

Sun Soho is the new name of the previously known Sun City Hotel. The hotel has been kitted with a revue bar, a range of eateries and even a night club. And in the centre of the hotel is the twenty-four hour casino which includes state of the art slot machines and table games.

Other accommodation options available include the Bush Bungalows, Cabanas, Cascades, Sun Vacation Club and The Palace.
