Ganico Organic Estate
Ganico Organic Estate is situated in Muldersdrift, Gauteng. It is an organic pomegranate farm. In addition to pomegranate, the farm also grows granadillas, lemons, avocados and more.
History
The farm was started by Laiken and Jason Cullen. They are first generation farmers and decided to start farming after they found out how difficult it was to source organic produce. As a result of discovering the health benefits of pomegranate they began growing this fruit.
What’s on offer
Farm tours are offered by the Estate. During these tours, you are taken through the farm to see what produce is being grown whilst also being explained as to the process and why certain choices were made. From the tour, it was explained that ultimately the goal is to have the entire estate growing edible produce.
There is a dam on the estate which homes tilapia. Their aim is to allow the natural process to occur and therefore use zero chemicals and pesticides. Thereby ensuring that you know where your produce is coming from.
The Estate also has a venue called The Atrium wherein they host weddings and events.
Tip: Tours need to be arranged with the farm in advance unless they are having a pop-up event wherein they promote these on their social media platforms.

Food & Drink
On the farm premises, there is a deli that stocks the seasonal produce for purchase as well as other delicacies as well as a coffee trailer. In addition, there is a chill area located in between the rows of pomegranate trees with seating spots.
Recommendation
It is a lovely experience learning about the farming process and understanding where the produce you purchase comes from. This is also reassuring as you know that what you are eating is organic and safe for consumption. It’s a definite family experience which will be enjoyed by one and all. After the tour, you can purchase something to eat and drink and chill amongst the pomegranate trees.
