Polana Plaza Hotel, Maputo Mozambique

The Polana Plaza Hotel, Maputo is located in in the central district of Mozambique. If you are looking for an affordable accommodation that can be found close to all the tourist attractions and a host of restaurants then this is the place to stay.

Parking

From what we’ve noticed driving around, some of the hotel and accommodation options in the Maputo CBD had parking options on the road however at the Polana hotel, they have basement parking and lifts to take you to reception and your room.

The Rooms

The Polana Plaza hotel offers five different types of rooms, these include a single room, twin room, a double room, a king deluxe room and a superior suite.

Each room has an array of amenities, which included the following: an ensuite bathroom, desk and chair, ample storage and luggage space, television, bar fridge.

We chose the king deluxe room and were definitely not disappointed. The bed was huge and comfortable. The bathroom has a large shower. And the room itself was very spacious. We also had views of the city.

Check-in process

Once you make your booking online, the process is fairly straightforward. You give the reception your booking reference and they confirm that payment is made. If payment has not been made, they do have card facilities for you to make your payment there. They will confirm how many occupants will be in the room and request passports for each one. They will make a copy of each passport and hand you back your passport. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. And they did speak English which ensured a smoother experience.

Facilities

Some of the facilities included in the rooms were mini toiletries, towels, plug points, air conditioning and a television.

There is also free WIFI available and when checking in, you let reception know how many devices you will be connecting to their WIFI and they provide you with passwords for each device.

The staff are also very accommodating and if you require any additional things, they are happy to provide. They even enquired if we needed another bed/cot for our toddler but since the bed was huge, it was not necessary.

Breakfast

The hotel offers a great selection on its breakfast buffet. Their breakfast is served in their restaurant area which was very aesthetic. There is a host of both hot and cold options, including savoury and sweet menu items. It was definitely well worth the price and was one of our favourite breakfasts on the trip.

Highs

We enjoyed the amenities provided, the room was very spacious, and the staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Other highs included the unlimited WiFi and the breakfast spread which was one of the better ones on our stay.

Lows

The only low for this particular place was that they were busy with construction at their reception area during our visit, which was a bit inconvenient with the dust and messiness but did not impact our stay and the amenities provided.
