Bunny Zone, Queensburgh
Bunny Zone ticks quite a few boxes for a parent looking to keep their child entertained. We are talking a number of play areas, animals, putt putt, and a restaurant with seating near the playground. And the best part, it’s free to enter. It is an ideal family-friendly spot and something to do with the kids in Durban.
Location:
You will find Bunny Zone located in the heart of Queensburgh so it is easily accessible. And there are numerous parking spots at each entry point. There is also a security guard, watching over the cars and when it gets busy, also directing cars to empty parking spots.
What to do
It considers itself to be “a free interactive place for adults and kids” and lives up to its own saying. At Bunny Zone, there is a host of activities available to keep your little ones occupied.
Feeding / Interacting with the Animals
In addition to having a substantial amount of bunnies, you can also find ducks, guinea pigs, chickens and tortoise in the feeding/ interacting area. The animals are free to roam around in their space. You enter a enclosed area (make sure to close the gate behind you) and you are able to pet any of the bunnies or guinea pigs which come out through the little flaps between the two areas. If you would like to feed the animals, you are able to purchase the food from the coffee shop.
You will also find some birds (like the African Grey and a Cockatiel, etc.) and an iguana in different cages near the play area, where you are able to view them safely.

Play Areas
There are two playgrounds/ play areas for kids to enjoy. The one close to the entrance and opposite the coffee shop, is suitable for children between the age of five and twelve years old. There is also a second play area which is suited to younger kids and can be found at the back of the area.

Putt Putt and Paintball
You are also able to purchase tickets to play a lovely relaxing outdoors game of putt putt. Or if you are looking for more adventure then you can sign up for paintball.
Scenic views
You will find a small stream flowing underneath a bridge which you can stand on and watch the water move peacefully. There are also beautiful flowers near the stream. And you get views of the tranquility of “being” in nature.
The Food
Bean Hunters is located directly opposite bunny zone and you can stop by their premises to have a meal and drink. Or to make your other purchases, like the feed for the animals.
It is a coffee shop, which offers a host of hot and cold beverages and meals including wraps, burgers and a scrumptious kiddies menu.

Seating Area
You will find quite a few wooden tables and benches near each of the playgrounds. And you are welcome to eat at these areas, however, you are only permitted to eat food that you have ordered from Bean Hunters.
Despite Bean Hunters being opposite Bunny Zone, if you choose to eat near the play area, the wait staff will bring their menu to you where you are able to place your orders. And they will bring out your orders to you.
When is the Bunny Zone open?
Bunny Zone is open daily from 08:00 am to 17:00 pm.
How much does it cost to go to Bunny Park Malvern?
It is free to enter the area, and interact with the animals as well as make use of the playground / play areas.
However, if you would like to feed the animals, then you will have to purchase feed from the coffee shop.
And if you would like to participate in the other activities, like the putt putt then that would also have a cost.

Safety and Cleanliness
Bunny Zone is a safe area with ample parking (save for those weekend days when it gets super busy). The staff that work for Bean Hunters are always around the area, and during our visit, we noticed the staff cleaning the water bowls of the animals and giving them new fresh water.
The interactive/playing area was well maintained and looked like it was reguarly cleaned and serviced.
Final Thoughts
This was our second time visiting Bunny Zone, but our first time entering. The first time we attempted to visit, it was super busy and we could not get parking, as there were so many cars waiting too. However, this time, we got a chance to enter and it did not disappoint. The Little Roamer, was able to interact with a few bunnies, who came to visit while we were in the interactive area. We were then able to walk around to get a sense of the lay of the land and finally got to sit down together.
If you are looking for a free thing to do within the Durban area, and a place that is safe and clean, then you need not go further than Bunny Zone.
